City Business Guides

After forty years of communism, Prague, the capital of Czech Republic and one of Europe's most beautiful cities, has finally come into full bloom. After a period of political and economic crisis, which ended with the separation of the Czech and Slovak Republics, the Czech government pushed ahead with a program of economic reforms.

But while Prague's rebirth has come with inflation, traffic jams (with new Western cars), and the ever-present pounding of construction crews, the stately spires of this living baroque and medieval museum rise above it all.

Picturesquely sited on the banks of the Vltava (Moldau) River , the city of Prague has played an important part in the history of Europe. It is noted for some magnificent Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque, Belle Epoque/Art Nouveau and Cubist architecture and a cultural scene of elegance.

  • At first meetings, business cards will be exchanged and a coffee or drinks are commonly offered.
  • Always arrive for a business meeting or a meal on time, as punctuality is viewed as a sign of reliability and responsibility.
  • A jacket and tie for men or smart suit for women is a good bet for first-time business visitors.
